Perfectly placed to discover Swellendam and surroundings.
Nestled in the patient gaze of the Langeberg mountains lies Swellendam. A town steeped in heritage, history and the natural splendour of the Overberg region.
In the town’s historic centre, beside the Drostdy Museum Complex you will find Roosje van de Kaap, dating back to 1790, when it was part of the Drostdy, at that time the seat of an independent republic.
Being in the tourist centre also means all major shops and lunch eateries are within easy reach. Even Marloth Nature Reserve with its lovely hiking trails are within walking distance.
If you like to venture a bit further, Bontebok National Park is 5km from us and at 45 minutes driving you’ll find the attractive ‘De Hoop Nature Reserve’. A must for whale lovers, sun bathers and nature explorers. Being at the gate of the Garden route, Swellendam is very well positioned for a leisure stop over, a weekend city breakaway or for a longer stay.
- From the N2 towards Swellendam take the Swellendam-EAST exit. (Coming from Cape Town the last exit; from George the first.)
- Take the first road to your left, the Drostdy Street, the first building on the right is Roosje van de Kaap.
